RTA Launches Several Ramadan Initiatives to Help Community

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a series of initiatives under the theme “Journey of Good” to foster community engagement and teamwork. These initiatives, conducted in collaboration with RTA and Keolis volunteers, focus on delivering a range of Ramadan-centric activities, events, and projects aimed at fostering inclusivity among various community members, including RTA employees, bus drivers, delivery bikers, truck drivers, workers, and Abra riders.

One significant initiative is the “Modes of Good” program, an extension of RTA’s annual Meals On Wheels drive. Volunteers prepare 8,000 meals during Ramadan using special buses and Abras, catering to bus drivers, bikers, truck drivers, Abra riders, and workers in accommodations. Additionally, RTA is partnering with charitable societies for the Ramadan Tent Project, providing 2,000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals through a dedicated tent set up in collaboration with the Beit Al Khair Society.

The “We Bring You Closer” initiative, conducted in cooperation with Keolis, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram, aims to connect public transport users at select metro stations. Telephone booths have been installed at Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations, allowing commuters to reach out to their loved ones during Ramadan.

Internally, RTA employees are engaged in several initiatives to promote healthy fasting habits and foster a culture of tolerance and camaraderie. Remote workshops on “How to Prepare for Ramadan” emphasize the importance of maintaining a balanced diet during fasting. Other initiatives such as “Who Will Win the Fanoos?” offer vouchers as prizes, while the Ramadan Bazaar and Iftar Gathering events bring staff members and leaders together over Iftar meals to encourage social interaction and enhance the work environment positively. Through these collective efforts, RTA endeavors to spread the spirit of giving, unity, and compassion throughout the community during Ramadan.
