Swat Region Rattled by Moderate Earthquake

Swat and its neighboring areas experienced a moderate earthquake on Sunday, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale. The quake’s epicenter was situated near the Pak-Afghan-Tajikistan border, at a depth of 188 kilometers underground.

Although the tremors were moderate, they raised concern among residents, shedding light on the ongoing seismic activity in the region. This recent event follows a series of earthquakes that have impacted various parts of the country in recent months.

Just four days ago, on March 13, tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and their adjoining areas. Before that, on March 5, a significant earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 struck near Iran, and its effects were felt in Pakistan.

The frequency of seismic events has been notable, including a shallow earthquake of 5.3 magnitude near Pakistan on February 19, 2024. These recurring earthquakes underscore the seismic vulnerability of the region, prompting communities to remain vigilant and prepared.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
