Vivo has introduced its latest X Fold 3 series in China, presenting both a standard and pro variant. The pro version stands out with superior specifications, offering a more premium experience compared to the standard model. Acting as the successor to last year’s X Fold 2, these foldable phones bring notable features and differences between them.
In terms of display, both the Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro boast OLED screens. The external display measures 6.53 inches with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels, while the internal display spans 8.03 inches with 2,748 x 1,172 pixels. Both screens support a LTPO 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Notably, the X Fold 3 Pro integrates an ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner, whereas the standard variant utilizes a side-mounted scanner.
Design-wise, the X Fold 3 series features a circular rear camera module, with the standard variant being notably slim at just 4.65mm when folded. It weighs 219 grams, lighter than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Vivo claims the series features a durable carbon-fiber hinge and has obtained Swiss SGS five-star drop-resistant certification, thanks to its armored glass. Both models are water-resistant, with the Pro variant having a higher IPX8 rating.
Regarding cameras, both models offer triple rear cameras, featuring a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The standard model includes a 50MP portrait lens, while the Pro variant boasts a 64MP periscope shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 3x optical zoom. Both models house 32MP front cameras.
Under the hood, the X Fold 3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the standard model runs on the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Both offer up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. Battery capacities differ slightly, with the Pro variant supporting faster charging speeds and wireless charging.
The Vivo X Fold 3 series offers stereo speakers, Wireless Lossless Hi-Fi audio, and various connectivity options. Pricing starts from CNY 6,999 (~$969) for the standard X Fold 3, while the X Fold 3 Pro starts at CNY 9,999 (~$1,385). Both models come in Black and White color options.
