The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert about a severe heatwave expected to begin on Tuesday, affecting various regions significantly.
According to an NDMA alert, the heatwave will hit Punjab and Sindh from Thursday and last until the 27th of this month. Temperatures are predicted to reach dangerous levels, posing serious health risks.
The NDMA has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to the expected heatwave. People should avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. It is also recommended to stay indoors during peak sunlight hours to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke and dehydration.
Farmers in the affected areas are advised to manage their crops carefully, adjusting irrigation schedules and providing additional shading to protect crops from extreme temperatures. Livestock owners should also take measures to safeguard their animals by ensuring access to ample water and shade, and possibly adjusting feeding times to cooler parts of the day.
The NDMA’s advisory aims to raise awareness and prepare both individuals and communities for the upcoming heatwave, encouraging proactive steps to minimize health risks and protect livelihoods.
