To start, four driving schools have been set up in Lahore to teach women both motorcycling and car driving. However, more schools will be set up across the province in the near future.

The women driving schools set up so far in Punjab include:

  • Abshar Driving School on Jail Road
  • Women on Wheels School on Ferozepur Road
  • Liberty Service Center Driving School
  • Manawan Traffic Lines Driving School

Classes are conducted from 8 am to 4 pm, providing a convenient schedule for women. The driving schools offer a women-to-women service, with female instructors teaching and assisting women learners. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore highlighted that this initiative aims to enhance women’s independence and mobility, enabling them to become self-sufficient and confident individuals.

This initiative follows another recent project by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Clinics on Wheels project, which was inaugurated to improve healthcare access. Under this project, 200 mobile clinics will provide health facilities to 4 million people in the province. These clinics will be deployed in densely populated areas of major cities where residents often face difficulties accessing hospital care.

By launching these projects, CM Maryam Nawaz demonstrates her commitment to improving the lives of women and the broader community in Punjab, promoting both health and independence.
