The decision to ban cattle markets was taken as a measure to prevent the rise of dengue mosquitos. While many politicians in the province agreed that prevention of dengue was a priority, they disagreed with shutting down cattle markets.

As Eid ul Adha gets closer, many people will visit cattle markets for buying their sacrificial animal. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the Zilhaj moon is expected to be sighted on June 7, which means that Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 17.
