Maryam Nawaz also revealed the revival of the Punjab Laptop Scheme, saying that Rs. 10 billion has been allocated in the budget for this purpose. She promised to enroll out-of-school children in schools as part of the government’s commitment to the “education for all” initiative.

The Chief Minister had previously announced a program to provide bikes to students on easy installments – the Punjab Bike Scheme. Under the scheme, 19,000 petrol motorcycles and 1,000 electric bikes will be given to students. The selection will be done through a ballot. The scheme includes a specific quota for female students.

Out of the 19,000 petrol bikes, 11,676 are designated for male students, and 7,324 are for female students. For the 1,000 electric bikes, 700 will go to male students, and 300 will be allocated to female students.

By the deadline of May 1, 2024, the government had received a total of 72,640 applications from eligible students in Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. These included 57,370 applications for petrol bikes and 15,270 for e-bikes.
