Earthquake Jolts Islamabad and Rawalpindi

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook the capital city, Islamabad, and other surrounding areas at around 4:14am in the early morning hours.

According to the initial reports, 5,6 magnitude earthquake hits 69 kilometers off Parun, Nurestan, Afghanistan at 4:14 am (Pakistan Standard Time)

The tremors were felt in the twin cities (Islamabad and Rawalpindi) however, the intensity was higher in Malakand, Swat, and Peshawar.

The earthquake was felt in Lahore, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Taxila.

The residents in affected areas reported feeling the tremors, causing panic but with no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
