PSX Announces Closure for Youm-e-Takbeer Public Holiday on May 28

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will suspend trading on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, to observe Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday marking Pakistan’s 1998 nuclear tests.

The exchange issued an official notice on Monday confirming the closure, aligning with the government’s declaration of a public holiday. “Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited will remain closed on May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer,” the notice stated.

Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan. These tests made Pakistan the seventh nuclear-armed nation and the first Muslim-majority country to achieve nuclear capability, strengthening its regional defense posture.

Normal trading activities will resume on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Investors and stakeholders should plan transactions accordingly.

The PSX regularly closes for national holidays, with advance notices provided to ensure minimal disruption to market participants.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
