TTP commander Asmatullah Shaheen among five killed in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: A key Taliban commander, Asmatullah Shaheen, was killed in AN ambush in volatile North Waziristan region.

Confirming the high-profile killing, security officers same a vehicle carrying 5 Taliban fighters was returning from Pak-Afghan border once it had been dismissed upon in Darga Mandi space of North Waziristan’s Ghulam Khan tehsil.

The attack left Taliban commander Asmatullah Shaheen and 4 of his associates dead on the spot.

Shaheen was appointed interim chief of illegal Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) when former TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud’s death during a missile strike last year.

Asmatullah Shaheen, additionally called Asmatullah Bhittani, was thought of to be a number one figure in attack on Mullazai Fort in Tank, South Waziristan and killing security forces in North Waziristan.
