One dead, two injured in triple stabbing at London’s Parsons Green

LONDON: One person died and two others were injured in a triple stabbing attack Monday night here at Parsons Green train station, British media reported.

The deceased was reportedly in his early 20s.

Police said the attack is not being treated as an act of terrorism and have cordoned off the area as well as the tube station; however, no arrests have been made as of now.

The horrifying stabbing comes shortly after a bomb detonated last month on a District line train at the same station, wounding 30 people.

According to authorities responding to the crime scene, all three victims — one of whom succumbed to his injuries and the other two remain hospitalised — were male.

It is also yet unclear as to whether there was more than one attacker.

The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service reached the train station around 7:37 PM local time (12:37 AM PST, Tuesday) “to reports of a stabbing outside Parsons Green Tube Station”, a spokesperson said.

“Three males, no further details, have suffered stab injuries. They are currently being treated by London Ambulance Service,” he said at the time.

British Transport Police in a tweet noted that additional security officials from the Metropolitan Police are present at the crime scene.

“We sent two ambulance crews, a first responder in a car and an incident response officer to the scene. A team from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene by car,” an emergency services spokesperson told a local media outlet.

Witnesses to the stabbing assault mentioned seeing CPR being administered to the victims.

Londoners took to Twitter to voice disbelief that the Parsons Green tube station is back in the news over a tragic incident:

“I was on Parsons Green walking my dog when a policeman ran up to us and said to leave the park immediately so that a helicopter could land,” Holly Eddleston — an onlooker — told the local media outlet.
