Jamaat-e-Islami’s long-march will enter Islamabad today (Tuesday) to press the federal government for merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa before 2018.
According to our correspondent, the march, kicked off on Sunday from Bab-e-Khyber of the Khyber Agency, will enter Islamabad via Faizabad (Rawalpindi) where JI chief Senator Sirajul Haq is expected to lead the march.
The protesters are proceeding to Islamabad via GT Road and will hold public meetings at different stations before staging a sit-in outside the Parliament House.
Holding the party flags and chanting slogans, the marchers reached Peshawar and Nowshera on Monday after passing through various routes.
The scheduled sit-in outside is expected to continue for more than three days, as the JI is accusing the federal government of delaying mainstreaming the Fata for no reason.
The JI is also calling upon the government to revoke the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) beside the merger of Fata with KP before 2018 general elections.
MNAs Shah Jee Gul Afridi and Sahibzada Tariqullah, and JI leaders and workers from tribal agencies are part of the march.
