NEPRA slashes power tariff by Rs2.28 per unit

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) slashed electricity price by up to Rs2.28 per unit for power consumers. However, the temporary relief in electric rates would not be applicable on K-Electric customers and consumers using up to 300 units of electricity per month.

According to details, a hearing was held at NEPRA headquarters on plea of Central Power Purchasing Agency. In a press release, NEPRA stated that relief was given in terms of fuel price adjustment for the month of February.

In February, the production cost for per unit of electricity stood at Rs4.97 whereas NEPRA charged Rs7.26 per unit price to consumers. NEPRA will give relief worth Rs15 billion to consumers in March.
