Ikramullah Khan laid to rest in D.I. Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Martyred Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Sardar Ikramullah Khan Gandapur was laid to rest in a graveyard in his native town Kulachi on Monday morning.

A large number of people, including political leaders, military officials as well as elders of the area attended his funeral prayers which were offered at College Ground, Kulachi.

On Sunday, the PTI candidate for provincial assembly constituency PK-99 Sardar Ikramullah Khan Gandapur was martyred and five others were injured in a suicide blast near Nuri Darbar in Mohallah Kamalkhel in Kulachi tehsi of Dera Islmail Khan.

A suicide bomber blew himself up near the vehicle of Gandapur as he left his house for election campaign.

He was injured along with his driver Mohammad Ramazan, former union council nazim Najeeb Shah, gunman Dilnawaz and Abdur Razzaq and a passer-by Saifur Rehman.

They were shifted to the Civil Hospital and the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where Gandapur succumbed to his injuries.

According to reports, the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

His brother Israrullah Gandapur was also martyred in a suicide attack in D.I. Khan in October 2013.

Gandapur was in the run for a provincial assembly seat (PK-99) where election was postponed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after his death.

He remained provincial agricultural minister in the previous government of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
