PTI’s Dr. Arif Alvi Elected as 13th President of Pakistan

The Election Commission of Pakistan is scheduled to announce official results tomorrow, PTI’s Dr. Arif Alvi elected as 13th president of Pakistan according to provisional results.

Dr. Arif Alvi was contesting against joint opposition candidate JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP candidate Aitzaz Ahsan.

The newly-elected President Dr. Arif Alvi said he was thankful to Almighty Allah and also thanked Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan for having confidence in him.

The newly elect President expressed his gratitude for all those who voted for him and vowed to to work for the betterment and added “I am not just a President of Tehreek-e-Insaf, but of all political parties and the nation.”

The 13th President of Pakistan is expected to take oath of office on September 9.

VOTE COUNT

Dr Arif Alvi:

212 votes (NA and Senate)

45 (Balochistan Assembly),

41 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly),

22 (Sindh Assembly).

Aitzaz Ahsan:

81 votes (NA and Senate)

39 (Sindh Assembly).

Fazlur Rehman: 

131 (NA and Senate)

15 (Balochistan Assembly),

13 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly).

Parliament

From total of 430 vote counts in the National Assembly and the Senate

Dr. Arif Alvi received 212 votes,

Maulana Fazlur Rehman received 131 votes

and Aitzaz Ahsan received 81 votes.

Six votes polled in Parliament were rejected.

Punjab Assembly

Dr. Arif Alvi secured 33 votes

Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured 25 votes

Aitzaz Ahsan secured only 1 vote

Sindh Assembly

Dr. Arif Alvi secured 56 votes

Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured only 1 vote

Aitzaz Ahsan secured 100 votes

KP Assembly

Dr. Arif Alvi secured 78 votes

Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured 26 votes

Aitzaz Ahsan secured 2 votes

Balochistan Assembly

Dr. Arif Alvi secured 45 votes

Maulana Fazlur Rehman secured 15 votes
