Google staff all across the world are staging a walkout over mistreating women. The protest is conducted for the company’s way of treating women employees. There is a number of allegations against many high-profile figures of sexual misconduct.

The New York Times published allegations surrounding high-profile workers. Weeks after the publication the protest “Walkout For Real Change” has taken place.

 

Some of the high-profile names mentioned in the article of the New York Times include:

  • Richard DeVaul, director Google  X research firm
  • Andy Rubin, creator of Android Mobile Operating System

Andy Rubin who received 90million Dollars as severance package when he left Google in 2014, despite Google claimed the allegations were credible. Charges which are denied by Andy Rubin.

Richard DeVaul acknowledges allegation against him. He is said to have made inappropriate advances towards a female candidate who had come for a job interview in 2013. Richard DeVaul apologized for his behavior. He resigned without severance on Tuesday.

 

Sundar Pichai CEO Google apologized by companywide email for “past actions” of the former employees

 

 “I understand the anger and disappointment that many of you feel,” he wrote.

“I feel it as well, and I am fully committed to making progress on an issue that has persisted for far too long in our society. And, yes, here at Google, too.”

In his email, he also wrote

Employees “will have the support they need if they wish to participate” in the walkout.

  • A publicly disclosed sexual harassment transparency report
  • A clear, uniform, globally inclusive process for reporting sexual misconduct safely and anonymously

  • The appointment of an employee representative to the board
  • An end to forced arbitration in cases of harassment and discrimination for all current and future employees
  • The elevation of the chief diversity officer to answer directly to the CEO, and make recommendations directly to the board of directors
