Coronavirus death toll surges to 1,369 on Wednesday

The numbers keep rising and the Coronavirus death toll reached 1,369 on Wednesday which has been worst day of the outbreak so far.

There has also been a significant increase in the number of registered cases with over 14,840 more cases diagnosed bringing the total to 60,347.

The reason for the increase is that China is now using a broader definition to diagnose people and are taking in people with lesser symptoms which means that now, clinically diagnosed cases are included as well.

According to many experts, this suggests that the full extent of the outbreak was suppressed until now.

Two top officials in China were sacked from their position after the the new figures were revealed.

Of the 242 new deaths in Wuhan, 135 are clinically diagnosed cases and out of the new 14,840 infections in the Hubei province, 13,332 were clinically diagnosed cases.
