WhatsApp to introduce Password protection for chat backups

Facebook owned WhatsApp is a fairly secure messaging app with its end to end encryption and the company is also working to improve its security. Now, WhatsApp is bringing in a new feature called Password Protect backups that is clearly how it sounds like and will allow users to place passwords on their chat backups.

Users can now access the option and set a password which means that from that point onward, on restoring backups, the messaging app will ask for a password and just to be clear, if a user forgets their password users will not be able to restore their chat backup if they install WhatsApp on another device.

The Password Protect Backups feature is currently in its very early stages and there no telling whether it will even be released or completely scrapped later since WhatsApp works on a ton a new features that never make it to end users or at least their stable version.

As of right now, there is no official news from WhatsApp about the feature or no telling when it will be out.
