Wine Shops ordered to remain closed during Ramazan.

All wine shops to remain closed during the month of Ramazan according to a notification issued by the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Sindh.

The notification titled “Sale of Liquour by Alternative and Secretive Arrangements, During Lockdown Period / Holy Month of Ramazan” states, “I am directed to refer to the noted subject and to state that all the Wine Shops of the Province are continuously closed with effect from 19 March 2020” further saying, “moreover the Holy Month of Ramazan is about to start during which all the wine shops remains closed.”

The notfication goes on to read, “It has been reported from certain quarters that the liquor is being sold in various areas of your Division / Region during the lockdown period through alternative and sectretive arrangements, which is highly objectionable.”

Deputy Director for Director General of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Department Anar Abbas in the notification directs that all wholesale and retail shops are to remain closed throughout the month of Ramazan otherwise action will be taken against officers and licensees.
