Government employees salaries and pensions to be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr

A notification has been issued by the Finance Ministry stating that Government employees salaries and pensions are to be paid out before Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to the notification, the federal government has directed the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue, the Chief Accounts Officers as well as the Military Account General to make sure that salaries and pensions are paid out on 21 May, 2020.

This order has been given as Rule 217 of the Treasury Rules state that if Eid-ul-Fitr falls within the last 10 days of the month, the salary for month is to be paid out before Eid.

As Eid-ul-Fitr falls on 24 or 25 May, 2020, government employees will be given their salaries and pensions three days in advance.

On the other hand, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will not be issuing fresh bank notes for Eid-ul-Fitr 2020.
