Pakistan currently facing diesel shortage

There is a diesel shortage currently being faced in many areas of the country as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is the only oil firm which has diesel in stock.

As the coronavirus lockdown forced many sectors of the economy to shut down, petroleum firms have been unable to import sufficient stocks of diesel.

The diesel shortage is also mainly due to the relaxation in the lockdown as more people are now opening businesses and commuting and also the harvesting of wheat.

These petroleum firms are being urged by Pakistan State Oil to take 15,000 litres supply of petrol for 5,000 litres of diesel supply.

A ban was also placed by the Government on the import of crude oil and high-speed diesel from 1 April 2020 although was suddently lifted on 24 April 2020.

Recently the government reduced petrol prices by Rs. 15 bringing the new price to Rs. 81.58 per litre while the price of High speed diesel was reduced by a massive Rs. 27.15 bringing the new price to Rs. 80.10.
