The meeting was held at the Transport House Lahore and was attended by the Provincial Industries and Trade Minister, Transport Minister Jahanzeb Khichi and Secretary Transport.

The government has given permission to operate public transport with full capacity with one passenger per seat with 20 percent discount in fares for buses traveling on GT Road.

However, only one passenger per two seats is allowed in buses travelling on motorway but these buses are now exempted from a 20 percent discount given that they are reducing their seating capacity to half.

Punjab transporters did agree to following all other safety protocols including making sure that sanitizers and face masks are being used. However, they did say that passengers also need to take care of themselves and make sure they are wearing face masks on their own.

Earlier standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued stated that all buses need to operate with half capacity and provide a 20 percent discount in fares which lead to a deadlock over the implementation of these SOPs.
