PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has summoned the federal petroleum minister along with the DG National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday regarding the on-going petrol crisis in the country.
Justice Qaiser Rashid expressed his appointment over the petrol crisis gripping the country for the past several days since the government announced a reduction in prices of petroleum products.
According to a representative of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) present at the hearing, a committee has been set up to take strict action against those involved in the current petrol shortage which included petrol stations who are not supplying to the public.

However, Justice Rashid seemed unsatisfied this statement given by the OGRA representative and said to not bring up any committees since they are formed in matters when the government just wants to down play an issue.
He further criticized NAB for not focusing on the matter of petrol shortage as well as the food crisis in the province saying that NAB only takes interest in cases that it wants and remains silent for the test.
Many petrol stations have been sealed across the country for not selling fuel to the public or selling it at higher prices. The All Pakistan Petroleum Retailers Association says that the shortage was due to the decrease in oil companies quota which resulted in these companies not purchasing oil.
