Quetta grenade attack kills child, injures seven

QUETTA: A seven-year-old child was killed and seven others injured in a Quetta grenade attack that occurred late Wednesday night at a shop on Barori Road selling items for the Independence Day celebrations on 14 August.

According to police unidentified persons targeted a shop in the Barori area of Quetta using a hand grenade and the explosion from the attack injured several people which included two children.

The injured were immediately taken to the Bolan Medical Complex for treatment but unfortunately one of the two children named Mudassar Ahmed succumbed to his injures. Four other critically injured persons were later shifted to the Civil Hospital’s trauma wing for treatment.

The area of the Quetta grenade attack incident was cordoned off by authorities and an investigation has been launched into the matter. No one has claimed any responsibility for the attack.

The Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal has directed the IG police to tighten the security in the city while asking for a complete report of the incident.
