Motorola Droid Turbo Specification, video Review, Price

Motorola Droid Turbo

The latest Flagship smartphone by Motorola is finally here, looks like Motorola worked very hard on this smartphone.

The Droid Turbo boasts a durable 5.2-inch AMOLED display (1,440-x-2,560, 565 PPI) made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The sharp, bright display boasts 16 million colors and is on par with the best high-end smartphone displays on the market.

The Motorola Droid Turbo runs on a 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and Adreno 420 graphics (600MHz GPU). Combined with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM with 64-bit support. It boasts 32GB to 64GB of internal storage, but has no MicroSD card slot for upgradable storage.

The Droid Turbo’s front-facing camera sports a standard 2-megapixel imaging sensor, but Motorola has gone all out by equipping the main camera with massive 21-megapixel sensor that’s paired with an f/2.0 lens and to keep the Droid Turbo up and running, a 3,900mAh battery has been thrown in.

Fortunately, the phone comes with Motorola’s Turbo Charger, which will bring your phone from nearly dead to 40% in minutes, so the 48 hour battery marker is not nearly as big a deal.

The Droid Turbo is dark, jagged and rough and  is available in metalized glass fiber reinforced with a layer of Kevlar (red or black) or a unique ballistic nylon. We’re not a fan of the look or feel of the metalized glass fiber finish, but the ballistic nylon does look and feel unique.

The Droid Turbo runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but will be upgradable to Android 5 Lollipop at a later date.

On paper, the Droid Turbo is one of the best Android devices of 2014. The phone is equipped with amazing components, but overall, the phone fails to compete with other high end smartphones available in the market.

Following are the official Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo specs. The phone will be available in stores and online starting Oct. 30, beginning at $199 on a two-year contract.

The Good

  • Solid build quality with industrial design
  • Great battery life (if not 48 hours) with Turbo Charge technology
  • Software experience adds features without feeling overwhelming

The Bad

  • Display is good but doesn’t “wow”
  • Some noticeable software lag despite ample processing power
