Hyundai Tucson recalled in Pakistan over ABS malfunction

Hyundai Nishat Motors Pakistan Limited (HNMPL) has recalled its Hyundai Tucson crossover-SUV in Pakistan over possible malfunction in the ABS module that may lead to a short circuit causing the vehicle to catch fire.

The step has been taken by Hyundai Nishat Motors after multiple fires incidents occurring involving their Hyundai Tucson SUV in Pakistan. The company ended up investigation the issue and identified the problem, which is related to the vehicle’s ABS module.

Hyundai Nishat has contacted Hyundai Tucson owners as part of their ‘Customer Care Campaign’ and issued a recall of the vehicle in Pakistan, urging them to visit nearest dealership and have the matter resolved.

“HNMPL is committed to provide quality vehicles to our customers. We bring to your attention that your vehicle may have a possible malfunction, which could potentially short-circuit. As a precautionary measure, please take your vehicle to a Hyundai dealership immediately, for the installation of an enhanced protective kit and update of the Electronic Control Unit & AVN software of your vehicle (free of cost) to provide a safe and reliable driving experience.” stated the company in the SMS sent to customers.

It is pertinent to mention that Hyundai and its subsidiary KIA Motors have issued millions of recalls across different countries due to possible fire hazard.

KIA Sportage Fires

Hyundai and KIA share many of the same components throughout their vehicles and there have been some fires involving KIA Sportage in Pakistan. However, KIA Lucky Motors has not taken any steps to identify the issue and declared the main cause of these fires to the installation of aftermarket accessories.

Hyundai Tucson Recalled in Pakistan

This step taken by Hyundai Nishat needs to be appreciated as companies in Pakistan do not really take responsibility for such issues. They could have let the matter go and blamed it on aftermarket installations but the company acknowledged the problem and issued a recall for Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan.
