The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has allowed the online transfer of vehicles in Lahore under the new policy, which allows submission of the transfer fee through the Punjab ePay App with biometric verification.
Under the policy, the vehicle ownership can be transferred to the buyer after approval from the Motor Registration Authority once the transfer fee is paid through the Punjab ePay App. Furthermore, there will be no need to submit the registration book or excise file for the transfer procedure.
Moreover, the system of neuro-registration files will also be made online so that the citizens can register their vehicle at home. This will take place during the second phase of the new policy by the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department.
The new policy by the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department will eventually allow both, the online transfer and registration of vehicles in Lahore. The same will soon be extended to other cities across the province.
Director General (DG) Excise Rizwan Sherwani said that biometric payments for transfer of vehicles will be made online and the registration cards will be sent to the applicant’s houses after 7 working days.
He added that as many as 127 vehicles have been transferred during the trial phase of the online system on Tuesday. He also ensured that new biometric system will be launched properly on Wednesday.
