SBP Announces Bank Holiday on November 9

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a bank holiday on 9 November 2022 on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day.

In a notification, the central bank said, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 being public holiday on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day.”

It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has restored the Iqbal Day Public Holiday after it was suspended by the PML-N Government in 2015.

Therefore, Iqbal Day will be observed as a bank holiday as commercial banks have also announced that it will remain closed on 9 November 2022.
