Teenage student dies falling from stairs at school in Karachi

KARACHI: A fourteen-year-old student reportedly died after falling from the stairs at a school in Karachi on her first day back after all educational institutions were closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teenager identified as Areeba Asif was student of grade nine at a school in Aisha Manzil area of Karachi and according to the school, she was shifted to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

However, the family of the deceased student claims that the school management did not take their child to the hospital and neither informed them of the incident.

According to the family, their daughter passed away due to negligence of the school management and Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has taken notice of the incident.

Sindh Education Minister Takes Notice

Education Minister Saeed Ghani took notice of the incident involving the death of the fourteen-year-old student after falling from stairs at a school in Karachi.

Ghani sought a report from DG Private Schools directing an inquiry in to why the school management did not take the girl to the hospital immediately after the accident.

The education minister said:
