Reports suggest that the kidnappers are demanding $600,000 as ransom. Maalouf’s colleague, Twitch streamer Lalem, mentioned on a former Twitter platform that although his friend had been taken hostage, he believes Maalouf will be released soon.

Maalouf describes himself as a traveler, comedian, and storyteller on his Instagram profile. According to Haiti24, $40,000 has already been sent to the kidnappers. Lalem reposted Maalouf’s last video from Haiti, where he warned about the dangers of being in the troubled country.

In the video, Maalouf expressed the intention of his crew to travel to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, but they planned to depart in the early hours of the morning to ensure arrival in daylight. He highlighted the risks, mentioning the presence of armed gang members, and emphasized how one small mistake could lead to trouble.

Before departing for Haiti, YourFellowArab posted on social media, saying, “Going on another one of those trips. If I die, thanks for watching what I’ve put out. If I live, all glory to God.”
