Saudi Arabia will send 27-year-old model and influencer, Rumy Alqahtani, to represent the Kingdom at the Miss Universe 2024 beauty pageant.
This will be Saudi Arabia’s first-ever participant to take part in the Miss Universe pageant that is scheduled to held in Mexico in September.
The announcement was made by the Saudi model on her Instagram account, where she has a huge following of over 1 million. Rumy Alqahtani stated, “I am honored to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This is the debut of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the competition,”
Furthermore, Rumy Alqahtani also shared several pictures wearing a strapless gown, a tiara, and a sash that read, “Miss Universe Saudi Arabia,”
Moreover, the model also held the flag of Saudi Arabia in all of the pictures.
It is pertinent to mention that Rumy Alqahtani, hailing from Riyadh, is well-acquainted with the limelight. Having participated in numerous international pageants, her most recent venture took her to Malaysia for the Miss and Mrs. Global Asian competition just a few weeks ago.
However, the announcement has garnered some criticism from the Muslim community in some countries over the Kingdom’s decision to officially take part in the Miss Universe beauty pageant.
