The CII chairman highlighted the following key points in the press release:

  • Religious and Social Responsibility: The CII emphasized that Islam strictly prohibits the dissemination of immoral content, which poses a threat to societal and religious values. The council strongly condemned content that promotes obscenity or blasphemy.
  • Regulation of VPN Usage: VPNs, often used to bypass internet restrictions, allow unrestricted access to social media content that may otherwise be banned. The CII has requested the government to restrict VPN usage for this purpose and establish a regulatory framework that ensures VPNs are only used for legitimate business or educational purposes.
  • Proactive Measures by Authorities: The CII recommended that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other law enforcement bodies take immediate action to monitor and prevent the spread of objectionable content through VPNs and other digital means.
  • Education and Awareness: To combat the issue at its roots, the CII advised that Islamic teachings and moral values should be promoted through educational initiatives, both online and offline. This would help counter the negative effects of harmful content on youth and society as a whole.

The CII concluded by urging the public to avoid illegal use of VPNs and instead support efforts to foster a digital environment that aligns with Pakistan’s cultural and religious principles. The council reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the government in curbing the spread of immoral and blasphemous content.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
