Customs Dept Seizes Thousands of Smuggled Mobile Phones in Islamabad

In a crackdown against smuggling, the Customs Department of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) successfully seized a shipment of 5,500 illicit mobile phones valued at over Rs. 50 million in Islamabad.

Officials from the Customs Department disclosed that the operation unfolded in Golra Mor following a tip-off, resulting in the effective confiscation of the contraband mobile phones.

Two individuals linked to the smuggling operation have been apprehended, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against them.

Presently, the accused are in a five-day physical remand under the jurisdiction of a special judge, as further investigations into the matter are actively ongoing.

As reported by Express News, authorities underscore the broader implications of this operation, emphasizing the existence of a significant network engaged in the smuggling of mobile phones and other items.

The ongoing investigation is geared towards addressing this network comprehensively, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken against all parties involved.
