Fire at Keamari oil terminal – Nationwide petrol supply suspended

KARACHI: Nationwide petrol supply has been suspended after a Keamari oil terminal caught fire on Thursday resulting in two deaths and three people receiving burn injuries.

The injured have been shifted to Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital in Karachi. The deceased have been identified as Shahid and Salih Mohammad.

According to Dawn News, Keamari oil terminal fire has been brought under control by Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) fire bridages after a few hours of the incident.

The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) official said that they were made aware about the fire at the Keamari oil terminal around 1:05pm and were able to control the blaze by 3:30pm.

A spokesperson of the Pakistan Rangers Sindh stated to Dawn News that the fire erupted at Kemari oil terminal 1 and rangers personnel reached the site soon after and cordoned off the area.

The cause of the fire at the Kemari oil terminal is yet to be determined however, it is pertinent to mention that this is the second time this year that a fire has broken out at the oil terminal.
