Former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain has passed away at the age of 80 on Wednesday, confirmed his son Arsalan Mamnoon.

Former President Mamnoon Hussain passed away in Karachi, where he was being treated for cancer for the past two weeks, his son said.

Mamnoon Hussain was born on 23 December 1940 in Agra, which is now known as Uttar Pradesh, India).

He joined politics in 1968 with Pakistan Muslim League, which was led by Noor ul Amin. Mamnoon Hussain became the joint secretary of Pakistan Muslim League Karachi Chapter in 1993.

He was a Pakistani businessman and politician, who served as the 12th President of Pakistan from 9 September 2013 to 8 September 2018.
