Addressing a press conference, the minister said that Pakistan has been facing gas loadshedding for the last few years and it will continue this year as it was not possible for the government to ensure gas supply for 24 hours.

Gas Loadshedding Schedule

The power minister said that a gas loadshedding plan was being devised to supply gas to consumers for 8 hours a day, adding that country’s gas reserves have further depleted by 18% compared to last year.

This means a gas loadshedding of 16 hours will be carried out each day during the coming winter months. However, the minister hoped that issue of gas shortage will be resolved to a greater extent as the government had finalized two liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes.

He added that despite various constraints, the ministry was making every effort to ensure availability of gas to domestic, industrial and fertilizer sectors with minimum loadshedding in the coming winter season.
