GM Korean Rail Network visits Pakistan Railways HQ

LAHORE: Mr. Kim Young June, General Manager of Korea Rail Network Authority & Mr. Cheng Nam, Director of Overseas Project Division, visited Workshop Division on the second day of Tour of Pakistan Railway Headquarters.

Mr. Ghulam Qasim, D.S. Workshop gave a detailed briefing on Wagon & Carriage Factory, under the supervision of Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Buriro, Additional General Manager Mechanical. During the briefing, it was communicated that Pakistan Railway Workshop Division consists of Loco Shops, Construction Shop, Carriage & Wagon Shop, Electric Shop, Steel Shop & Power House.

A brief introduction of each section was given to the delegation and later, a tour to carriage and wagon factory was arranged. Mr. Ghulam Qasim, D.S. Workshop discussed various departments in order to benefit from Korean Technical capabilities, which included Plant & Machinery Up gradation, Software & Industrial Electronic Technologies.

Korean Delegation also gave a briefing on the progress of Korea Rail Network. During the briefing, the delegation expressed that Korea Rail began its journey of success after attaining freedom from Japan in 1945, laid a better track in 1980 & successfully launched Korea High-Speed Rail in 1990. Currently, 60% of Korean population travels via High-Speed Rail. He expressed that they are considering joint avenues to provide modern technology to Pakistan.

Afterward, the delegation also visited Mughalpura Dry Port where Mr. Tahir Hassan Bukhari, Chief Traffic Bukhari gave a briefing as well. Near the end of the visit, Mr. Kim Young June, General Manager of Korea Rail Network Authority planted alstonia (plant) in the premises of Divisional Superintendent Workshop.

Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Buriro, Additional General Manger traffic awarded him the honorary shield on behalf of Pakistan Railways.
