Govt announces four days public holiday in Rawalpindi & Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has revised the notification for public holidays in the twin cities (Rawalpindi and Islamabad). The earlier notifications announced a three day public holiday in Islamabad starting from 21st March to 24th March 2022, while one public holiday was announced for Rawalpindi on 22nd March 2022 on account of the 48th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) conference being held in Islamabad and the Pakistan Day Parade, respectively.

According to the latest revised notification issued by Cabinet Division, there will now be four public holidays in Islamabad from 21 March 2022 to 24 March 2022, while there will be three day public holiday in Rawalpindi from 21 March 2022 to 23 March 2022, which is already a public holiday on account of Pakistan Day parade.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi has also issued a notification regarding the local public holidays from “21.03.2022 (Monday) and 22.03.2022 (Tuesday)” on account of the 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) and “23rd March, Pakistan Day Parade.”

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has also issued a notification regarding four days public holiday in the capital territory, where all banks, schools and private offices will remain closed from 21st March to 24th March, 2022.

Furthermore, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed traffic plan for the Pakistan Day parade on 23 March 2022 for the convenience of commuters. According to the traffic plan issued by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Office of Senior Superintendent of Police Rai Mazhar Iqbal, there will be a complete ban on Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTV) in Islamabad on 16, 18, 20, and 23 March 2022 from 12am to 2pm.
