Islamabad eases COVID-19 restrictions from 16 May

Islamabad authorities have eased COVID-19 restrictions in compliance to the decisions taken by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC).

The decision was taken at the meeting of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) held in Islamabad under the Federal Minister for Development and Planning Asad Umar.

As new coronavirus cases being reported across the country have declined, the Islamabad authorities have issued a notification easing some of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in line with the decisions taken by the NCOC.

Resumption of Public Transport

Inter-city, Intra-city and inter-provincial public transport in Islamabad will resume with 50 percent occupancy from 16 May 2021.

Commercial Activities

Markets and shops in Islamabad will be allowed to open from 17 May 2021, however, they will be required to close by 8pm as decided by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC).

Office Timings

Offices will be allowed to resume as per normal working hours from 17 May 2021 but with 50 percent attendance in line with the work from home policy.

Restaurants

Indoor and outdoor dining in Islamabad will remain closed but takeaway services will be allowed 24/7.

These orders will go into effect from 16 May 2021 and remain enforced till 19 May 2021. The notification was shared by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.

Gyms allowed to open

Gyms in Islamabad are allowed to open till 8pm under 30 percent occupancy.
