Islamabad Traffic Plan – 26 November 2022

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued details regarding the Traffic Plan for Saturday (26 November 2022) prior to the arrival of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Haqeeqi Azadi March. According to the details, the authorities have blocked off certain routes due to security reason as there is threat of an attack on PTI Chairman and Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, who has already survived a failed assassination attempt on 3 November 2022.

Update (03:30PM) – Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has provided a map of the updated Traffic Plan for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Insaf (PTI) rally being held Rawalpindi. According to the map, the authorities have closed off several entry points from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, including:

  1. T-Chowk
  2. IJP Road
  3. Islamabad Chowk
  4. Dhokri Chowk
  5. D-Chowk
  6. Constitution Avenue
  7. Faizabad Interchange Flyover
  8. 9th Avenue Chowk
  9. Haji Camp Chowk

Meanwhile, the following areas will remain restricted:

  • Airport Road
  • Margalla Road
  • 26 No Chungi
  • Murree Road
  • Srinagar Highway
  • Bari Imam

Earlier, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) said on Twitter that Faizabad Bus Station will remain closed from 10 PM (25 November 2022) until the end of the political party rally. “In view of the safety measures, the entry of public transport will be closed at this place.” said Islamabad Police on Twitter.

Islamabad Traffic Plan issued by authorities states that Murree Road towards Rawalpindi has been closed for traffic during the political rally. Furthermore, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) says that traffic will also remain closed from IJP Road, 9th Avenue, Junction from Islamabad towards Rawalpindi. However, the authorities will provide alternate routes to commuters.

Moreover, the authorities said that a ban has been implemented for carrying weapons, including licensed ones, within the limits of Islamabad. ITP added that said ban will continue for another two months. Additionally, the political rallies will be allowed to use the designated routes only and legal action will be taken against those who violate given routes.

Meanwhile, all other traffic routes will be kept open in Islamabad unless otherwise stated. The Islamabad Traffic Plan adds that there will be regular checks for some places over threat of terrorism. However, the authorities will provide alternate routes for commuters.

The update added that all ceremonies and normal activities in Islamabad will remain unaffected.

Earlier, the Islamabad Traffic Police said that Red Zone Entry and Exit are closed from Express Chowk and NADRA Chowk. Alternatively, the commuters can use Margallah Road, Ayub Chowk and Serena Chowk. Meanwhile, all other roads in Islamabad will remain open.

Yesterday, it was reported by several sources that Islamabad authorities plan to close off entry into the federal capital after 7PM from the following points:

  • M-2 Motorway
  • Koral Exchange
  • Faizabad Interchange
  • 26 Number Chungi
  • T-Chowk

However, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) denied these reports.
