Pakistan – Presidential elections on 6th August , 2013

A spokesman of the Election Commission told Radio Pakistan that Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim has given approval to the election schedule, Presidential elections will be held on the sixth of next month.According to the schedule‚ the candidates can file their nomination papers on 24th of this month. Scrutiny of the papers will be held on 26th while the candidates can withdraw their papers on 29th of this month. Final list of the candidates will be published on the same day.

Official results of the presidential election will be announced on 7th of next month.
Polling for presidential election would be held at the Parliament House in Islamabad and buildings of the four provincial assemblies in Lahore‚ Karachi‚ Quetta and Peshawar from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Meanwhile‚ the Election Commission has appointed Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi as Presiding Officer of the election to be held at the Parliament House in Islamabad. Chief Justices of the respective high courts have been appointed Presiding Officers for elections to be held at the buildings of the four provincial assemblies.

The Nomination forms for contesting Election to the office of the President are available in the ECP Secretariat‚ Islamabad as well as in the offices of the Registrars of the High Courts of the Provinces concerned and the Provincial Election Commissioners.
