The court emphasized that the action should be unbiased and indiscriminate. This decision stems from a tragic incident involving an underage driver who caused the death of six family members in DHA Phase VI.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, Justice Bajwa highlighted the alarming number of individuals in Lahore driving without a proper license. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) informed the court that out of 7.3 million vehicles, only 1.3 million are licensed.

In response to the court’s inquiries about measures taken against those without licenses, the CTO mentioned a crackdown on underage drivers initiated following the tragic incident.

The CTO reported that 999 cases have been registered against individuals driving without a license.

The incident, where six family members were killed in a posh area of Lahore, has sparked demands for stricter measures against underage driving and has raised concerns about road safety in affluent areas of the city.
