One of Islamabad’s most popular tourist sport, the Monal Restaurant, has been sealed on Tuesday on the directives of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to immediately seal the Monal Restaurant and the Navy Golf Course.
During the hearing on encroachment in the Islamabad Margalla Hills, Justice Athar Minallah of the IHC said that commercial activities on the land of the Islamabad Hills National Park cannot be allowed at any cost.
The court ended up ordering the CDA to immediately seal the Monal Restaurant and the Navy Gold Course, while ordering an inquiry into the matter.
Justice Minallah said the Pakistan Navy had encroached the land for the Golf Club, adding that it was said that it was being built for security purposes but that never happened.
Monal Restaurant Sealed
The Monal Restaurant has been sealed by the authorities on the directives of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). However, the restaurant has been sealed two times in the past but has been reopened again.
Justice Minallah said that time time that won’t happen and handed over the responsibility of keeping the Monal Restaurant sealed to the Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory.
Monal Restaurant Issues Statement
The Monal Restaurant also issued a statement after it was sealed by authorities.
Monal was constructed by the CDA in 2005 under the Provision 21 (3) of MHNP ordinance and was leased out for 30 Years. Monal has always been the Center of attraction for all the negative propaganda despite the fact that it’s just one of the many restaurants on the Islamabad – Pirsohawa Road. Damne Koh has at least 100 kiosks and there are 12 other restaurants in the area. Monal has always abided by all the environmental requirements. No complaint has ever been registered by any citizen or agency against the establishment. We are proud that we have been able to give very pleasant memories for millions in these 15 years and train thousands of people from the surrounding villages. The establishment provides employment to 700 families and is one of the iconic places of Pakistan.
