The Government had announced three day holidays for Eid ul Azha from 31 July till 2 August with the first two days of Eid falling on Saturday and Sunday (1 and 2 August) which are already off days in the country as most businesses and offices are closed.

People have argued that the government has essentially only provided one holiday on Friday (31 July) and according to Mufti Muneeb, many people have requested him to urge the government into declaring one more holiday.

While speaking at the press conference Mufti Muneeb also mentioned that social media has misunderstood the arguments between the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and the Science Ministry.

The committee’s chairman said that there was no conflict between ulema and the science ministry and they were in fact friends.
