Nawaz Sharif Will Be PM Candidate If PML-N Wins: Shehbaz Sharif

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif asserted that if his party secures a simple majority in parliament after the nationwide general election on February 8, Nawaz Sharif would be a candidate for the premiership. Shehbaz Sharif stated that if the PML-N falls short of obtaining a simple majority, the decision on the prime ministerial candidate would be made after consultations within the party.

During an interview on Geo News’ special transmission for the 2024 election, Shehbaz Sharif outlined his party’s plans if they come into power after the general elections. He emphasized the necessity of making significant decisions, including opting for another International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. Shehbaz advocated for the privatization of loss-making national entities as part of their economic strategy and took credit for preventing the country from defaulting.

Addressing recent explosions, the PML-N president suggested that the bomb blasts, occurring just hours before the poll day, were orchestrated to deter voters from participating in the upcoming electoral event. He attributed the rise in terrorism in the country to debatable decisions made by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and expressed confidence that the nation would make a decisive choice regarding the ruling political party in the forthcoming elections.
