NEPRA Hikes Electricity Tariff Once Again

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has agreed to raise electricity tariff by Rs4.92 per unit for one month putting more pressure on electricity users in Pakistan, who are already struggling with record inflation.

This change is due to the February fuel adjustment, and customers will notice the extra costs in their April electricity bills. It’s worth mentioning that this rise won’t affect certain low-income users or lifeline consumers and those served by K-Electric.

NEPRA’s decision aims to tackle the increasing expenses linked to generating and delivering power. Although this increase might strain household budgets, it shows the ongoing difficulties in Pakistan’s energy sector.

As users prepare for increased bills, policymakers are still trying to find a balance between affordability and sustainability in the country’s energy system.
