Pakistan to observe mourning day today

The government has decided to mark a national day of mourning on August 2 (Friday) in solidarity with Palestinians and to denounce Israeli state-sponsored terrorism.

This decision came after a consultative meeting addressing the worsening situation in Palestine.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the meeting, where it was announced that the nation would hold a funeral prayer in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of the Hamas Political Bureau, who was assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday. This prayer will take place after Friday prayers.

The meeting also resolved to present a resolution in Parliament to show full support for the Palestinian people. Participants condemned the recent nine months of Israeli brutality in Palestine and expressed deep sorrow over Haniyeh’s martyrdom. They viewed the assassination as a deliberate attempt to undermine efforts to halt Israeli atrocities and achieve regional peace.

Prime Minister Sharif described the ongoing Israeli actions as a tragedy for the Muslim Ummah and stressed the need for immediate humanitarian aid to the Palestinians. He assured that Pakistan would continue providing relief goods and medical assistance. Additionally, the government plans to bring injured Palestinians to Pakistan for treatment and admit Palestinian medical students into Pakistani medical colleges with financial support.

The meeting highlighted that Israel’s actions violate United Nations resolutions, International Court of Justice decisions, and international laws. The international community’s silence on these violations was criticized. The leaders called on global institutions, including the United Nations, to act decisively to end the genocide and hold Israel accountable for war crimes.

Representatives from the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Pakistan Muslim League Zia, and the National Party attended the meeting.

We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
