Possible petrol shortage as oil tankers go on strike

KARACHI: Possible petrol shortage is expected as the All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association (APOTOA) has announced a nationwide strike affecting supply of petroleum products across upper parts of the country, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

The All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association (APOTOA) announced the strike restrictions were placed on oil tankers entering crowded city areas during daytime hours.

APOTOA General Secretary Noman Butt said that the Rawalpindi administration has placed a ban on oil tankers from entering the city during the day which was unacceptable and he had sent letters to the relevant officials, including the petroleum secretary.

According to Noman Butt, the supply of petroleum has been halted to the Twin Cities, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad Airport and various power plants which might cause petrol shortage in the region.
