The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds during the upcoming spell from May 20 to May 24, 2025.
According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre, a strong westerly wave is likely to enter the western and upper parts of the country on May 20, which may persist till May 24.
This system is expected to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, particularly in the following areas:
- Balochistan: From May 20 to 21
- Sindh: From May 21 to 22
- Punjab, KP, GB & AJK: From May 20 to 24
PMD has warned of potential urban flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in vulnerable mountainous regions during this period.
Precautionary Measures Advised:
- Travelers and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during this spell, especially in hilly and flood-prone areas.
- Farmers are advised to manage crop harvesting and related activities accordingly.
- All relevant authorities have been advised to stay on high alert and take necessary precautionary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
