Punjab Govt bans eviction of tenants for 2 months

LAHORE: The worse hit province by the coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan has been Punjab and today the Punjab government has banned the eviction of tenants in case of delay or non payment of rent according to notification issued by the provincial home department.

The ban has been placed under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure by the Additional Home Secretary Momin Agha and will remain in place for a period of two months giving time to tenants to make arrangements due to the hardships being experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lahore has been worse affected by the coronavirus pandemic so far. Bahria Town Lahore was recently sealed after 60 cases emerged mostly involving their staff. Malik Riaz tweeted the Bahira Town management was handling the situation and taking care of all medical bills of affected and were doing their part.

Different parts of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Bhatta Chowk were also sealed on Saturday after emergence of cases.
